Changes to the Household

There are a variety of reasons why the people living in a property may change.  For example people get married, children grow up and leave the family home.

It is important that Wishaw and District Housing keep accurate, up-to-date records of who is living in our properties to ensure that everyone gets the service they are entitled to.  This is especially important so that we can advise you of relevant changes that may affect you such as welfare reforms.

If you have any changes to your household you should notify the office as there may come a time when someone that lives with you wants to take over the tenancy (for example through an assignation) and will have to provide evidence as to how long they have lived there.

Some changes to the household are temporary and take place for very specific reasons.  In these circumstances a more formal arrangement is required to protect the rights of all parties.  Usually such temporary arrangements are either through the tenant taking in a paying lodger or sub-letting out their home for a short period of time.

We would not allow any changes to the household that would result in overcrowding.
