Wishaw and District Housing Association
Short Scottish Secure Tenancy Agreement

There are some very limited circumstances where Wishaw and District Housing Association may consider offering a Short Scottish Secure Tenancy, namely;

  • To someone who has previously been evicted from a tenancy for anti social behaviour
  • When the accommodation is being let on a temporary basis
  • Where the property is being leased by another organisation to Wishaw and District Housing Association
  • The tenant, or a member of their household, is subject to an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).

A Short Scottish Secure Tenancy Agreement will be granted initially for six months but can automatically run for up to a year.

Although the Short Scottish Secure Tenancy Agreement contains many of the same terms as the full tenancy agreement, it does not offer the same level of rights to tenants such as no Right to Succession and no Right to Buy.  Perhaps most importantly, it does not offer the same Security of Tenure and the tenancy can be terminated at the end of the six month period simply by Wishaw and District Housing Association serving the correct notice.
